Tina Usherwood
The relationship is at the heart of all our work.
Tina originally trained and worked for Relate as a relationship and couple counsellor, and completed her psychotherapy training with the Liverpool Psychotherapy Organisation in 2005. In 2012, she qualified with the Guild of Psychotherapists and was awarded a Diploma in Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Supervision. In addition to these core trainings, she has studied to practitioner level in Mentalization Based Therapy with the Anna Freud Center. She is a psychodynamic therapist accredited by the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapy (UKCP).
During Tina’s career has worked with a wide range of client groups from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those with relationship difficulties (Relate), survivors of childhood abuse (Stepping Stones), NHS primary care patients, and students within higher education. In addition, she has maintained a private practice offering psychotherapy and supervision for many years.
For the last 18 years Tina has worked closely with The University of Liverpool and The University of Wales Bangor as a student counsellor and supervisor. In 2009 she created, and continues to manage, the ongoing University of Liverpool Veterinary Peer Support Programme. In 2021 she created Therapeutic Connections, an online platform delivering a range of therapeutic services incorporating her skills and experience.
My values
I am passionate about supporting others to live their lives in the most fulfilling way possible. At times, this requires us to grieve losses and process distressing experiences. I feel honored when clients allow me to take this journey with them. I am particularly interested in supporting others involved in the caring professions, through training, supervision and reflective practice groups.
I live in North Wales in the UK and am often found replenishing my own soul by running, swimming and mountain biking with my beautiful dogs in this outstanding environment.
